Indigenous Services

What we Do

The Indigenous Team work with Indigenous preschool, primary and high school children and their families, along with schools and communities to increase Indigenous participation in education

Primary aged and Youth  Sessions at local schools to assist with engagement and re-engagement of children / youth in high school.

Parent Sessions and Yarning Circles cover a range of topics selected by participants including issues preventing children / parents engaging in school and culture.

Current Programs

 Gulyangarri 

At the Gulyangarri Centre  we concentrate on literacy, cultural awareness and parent support preparing 3 – 5 year olds for school. Sessions are run on the grounds of Shalvey Public School.

 

Aboriginal Learn Play Grow

We also facilitate free Aboriginal Learn Play Grow sessions at Lethbridge Park Public School and Willmot Community Hub during school terms

Play sessions include culture, literacy, play based learning, encouraging parent engagement and participation.

Parent Sessions include importance of play, literacy, numeracy, healthy eating, fine and gross motor skills and transition to school.
